Miami Heat 2012 NBA Champions
The Miami Heat have finally won their second title, first since "the Big Three" era, and not only that, Lebron James has finally won his first title as an NBA professional. No doubt, it was a slug fest game. The young OKC Thunder were not going to give up easy, but with the shooting mirage given up by the Miami Heat (particularly Mike Miller), it was too much to handle.Miami Heat Win LeBron James Delivers
Game five (5) started close and the teams traded 5-0 runs; Miami looked poised to run away with the game, but KD (Durant) kept them close. Nevertheless, D. Wade picked up his second foul in the first quarter and that is when everything changed. It changed because Mike Miller checked into the game. Mike Miller along with Norris "NoCo" Cole started hitting three pointers.
I've been just watching the games and not getting to emotionally involved but this game got me off the couch with the enthusiasm, they were playing so good. I felt like time had went back 20 years when Michael Jordan hit six three pointers against the Portland TrailBlazers, and even he did not know what was going on!
Still Durant managed to get the once 17 point lead down to 10 for the half at 59-49! The third quarter was played nice and tight, but there was too much Mike Miller, LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, and everyone else in a white uniform. A lead cut to five and the look of a close game coming upon us, was blown out to 25 by the end of the third quarter. Definitely a hard mountain to climb even if you were the 93' Chicago Bulls. Lebron James Wins and Celebrates
The fourth quarter was still filled with a myriad of three point buckets and petal-to-the metal struggle for the Heat to put away the Thunder, who finally conceded at around the 3 or 4 minute mark. The Heat fans really helped the Heat win (so much for saying they were fake, late arriving, none enthusiastic fans - that place was so loud) win and the celebration began with the team jumping around on the bench.
What the Thunder did not realize or expect and did not see against Dallas, LA, and San Antonio was a team that can play defense and are extremely fast and quick. The Spurs played defense, but not as fast rotating as the Heat. Also, the Thunder could not get nasty inside, which is where the Miami Heat usually suffer from. This is what the Thunder really could never recover from.
Miami Heat Runner Ups in 2011
Last year, after game 2 the Heat made a run to go up 15 points and Wade left his arm in the air following a three point basket in front the Dallas bench. This ignited a fuel fiery play for the Mavericks, even Jason Terry was quoted telling his teammates, "look at them showing off already." This year, there was no celebrating pre-win. James rarely smiled the entire finals and even eastern conference finals. It was all business, which he finally took care of.
Lebron took home the season MVP, and did something Michael Jordan has done 4 times, take home both season MVP and playoff MVP. Watch celebration Miami Heat 2012 NBA Champs LeBron James Legacy - one thing is for sure, he was a total champion in this playoff run. His numbers were amazing (30pts-10rbs-6asts) cruising through the Knicks, battling back against the Pacers, overcoming the hard Celtic push, and commanding the OKC assault rifles in their young athletic offensive explosiveness; the Heat and James really did it all in this playoff run.
James was going to be a Hall of Fame member no matter if he won a title or not but this adds to his legitimacy. Here are some quotes I grabbed out of a Facebook conversation about Lebron James...
I've been sitting back watching all of this "downing Lebron talk" for months now & I ain't said nothing. Truth is this stuff started on TV w/ ole boy skip bayless and guys like him. Now everybody wanna start talking crazy on this kid & be on the band wagon. So let's point out some FACTS regarding Lebron vs. NBA "stars" past/present. If you make a comment, don't come with no emotional speeches either... just come presenting "facts". so here is #1....
Jerry West lost "9 championships in a row" and was called "Mr. Clutch" and got the NBA logo. Lebron ain't lost but 2 and he getting murdered by the media and fan base. Now you tell me what's up wit that??
Lebron never had a lottery pick drafted onto any of his teams since he came into the league... 1st year the record jumped 20 games won from being in the pit of the basement.
Correction he had one but we don't remember his name...
When Michael Jordan left the Bulls they still won 55 games the next year, 3 games down from 58 the previous year. When Lebron left Cleveland they went from being finals team to almost setting a record for one of the worst teams in league history.
Taking last second shots was not an issue (or making them) when he was in Cleveland and now all of a sudden cause he in Miami, he gotta take the last shots and make them. This man done been to 2 finals and I bet you nobody can name the starting 5 on his finals teams... I doubt if any of them starting anywhere else right now... what happened to Kobe when he didn't have Shaq? what happened to Wade without Shaq? They sunk like the Titanic. Lebron did way more than them on his own. They could barely make the playoffs (Kobe didn't make the playoffs once or twice) without another great star. Lebron went to the finals though alone!
Not enough, I've got more...
LeBron scored 25 straight on our pistons bruh (brother)... we had a good crew that had been to the eastern conference finals like 7 times...
We over look what James has done as an individual. Those post came from professional basketball player Damien McSwine also author of The Ancient 20!
James has been a great team player with exceptional skill and gets treated like he looked in a camera and said, "I AM NOT A ROLE MODEL!" He is treated like he changed his hair color and ran up and down the court getting under other players skin. He is a decent guy, with great basketball abilities.
I call him the super hybrid or mix-breed of Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan (limited Mike of course), Scottie Pippen, and Karl Malone. Now if you're mixed with that bunch of players, you're really going to be special. He is.
Now at age 27, the championship monkey off his back, he and Wade more mature as men, they could be dangerous if they add more key pieces to their team the next coming years. Now that other league veterans know he can win, be sure other veterans may come over and sign with the Heat to keep the winning ways going!
It was a great year and now that the season is over, I'm going back to my work, and playing golf. Post up Due for more NBA talk over the summer, be safe and give credit where credit is Due. Miami Heat Win and Lebron James Delivers.
